Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers to what people ask most.
Is Sidre free? Are there ads?
Sidre is free. There are no ads, no in-app purchases and no account.
Does it need the internet?
No. Prayer times are computed on your phone, and the city database comes with the app. Sidre works fully offline.
How accurate are the times?
Sidre was compared with Diyanet's official tables for 142 cities. In Türkiye every time is within one minute; abroad, 99.8% of times up to 62° latitude are within one minute. If your local mosque announces different times, you can adjust each time by minutes in Settings.
Which calculation methods are there?
Diyanet, Umm al-Qura, Muslim World League, ISNA, Egypt, Karachi, Tehran, Singapore, Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar and Morocco. Sidre suggests the method used in your country; you can change it in Settings, along with the Hanafi asr and the high-latitude rule.
Why does it ask for my location?
Only to find your city and compute the times and the qibla for where you are. It is optional: you can pick your city by hand. Your location never leaves your phone.
Can I set the alarm only for fajr, or for fajr and maghrib?
Yes. On the alarm screen, turn on any prayers you want: fajr, dhuhr, asr, maghrib, isha, and also sunrise, duha or tahajjud. Each has its own offset. If a notification would come at the same moment as an alarm, only the alarm rings.
How does the alarm work on iPhone?
On iOS 26 and later the alarm rings as a full system alarm. iPhone keeps the next 16 alarms as system alarms; later ones arrive as notification sounds until you open the app again. Before iOS 26 the alarm is a notification sound of at most 30 seconds and is silent in silent mode.
The alarm did not ring on my Android phone. What can I do?
Allow notifications, "Alarms & reminders" and full-screen notifications for Sidre, and turn off battery optimization for it. On the alarm screen, "Try the alarm (1 min)" rings a test through the same path, and "Diagnostics" shows what the system has set.
Does it work in northern countries?
Yes. High-latitude rules handle nights when the sun barely sets, and Diyanet's common calendar for Europe is available.
The Hijri date is one day off. Why?
The Hijri date is computed from a table and can differ by a day from the local moon sighting. You can correct it in Settings with the Hijri adjustment.
Where is my tracker data? What if I change phones?
Only on your phone. Before changing phones, use Export on the Tracker screen to save a backup file, and Import on the new phone.
Which languages does it support?
Turkish, English, Arabic, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese and Kurmanji Kurdish.
